NO BIRTHDAYS TODAY

SPIRIT WEEK: Student Council invites you to participate in winter spirit days this week as follows: TODAY - Color Wars, 7th wears blue and 8th wears black….. Friday - Jersey/Sports Day. Your homeroom will also be collecting a donation on Friday to raise money for the High School Task Force. The homeroom that collects the most money will be treated to donuts next week.

BOOK FAIR: The spring Book Fair will be held March 7-14.

FALL IN LOVE WITH SCIENCE: All Middle School Girls are invited to join Hope College students studying Nursing, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Computer Science, and Engineering for a fun-filled day of science activities THIS SATURDAY. Pick up a flyer in the office.

YEARBOOKS: Don’t miss out on your middle school memories. Order your yearbook online by going to the Middle School website.

LOST & FOUND: Check the Lost & Found rack for any of your missing clothing, lunch bags, water bottles or any other item. If you are missing jewelry, it is typically turned in at the office.

SPORTS:

Middle school competitive cheerleaders there is an opportunity to stunt on Friday. If you would like more information please see Coach Nicole.

The 7th Grade Girls basketball team went into league-leading Sparta and came home with a split. In the first game, the Lakers dominated from start to finish handing Sparta's B-team their first loss on the season. Reegan DeCator and Lizzy Koratich led the Lakers with 8 points each, while Ryleigh Murphy hit two big shots for 4 points. Anna Bisacky also played a tough game and chipped in 2 points. In the second game, the Lady Lakers battled back after a tough start to within 2 points heading into the 4th quarter before Sparta pulled away for a 19-13 victory. Meah Bajt lead the Lakers with 6 points. Grace Brow played another solid all-around game adding 2 points, while Carly Llewellyn went 3 for 4 at the free-throw line in the 4th quarter for her 3 points. The 7th Grade Lady Lakers are now 8-2 combined for the season.

The 8th grade basketball team lost last night to Sparta 31-20. Kate Lewkowski played her best game of the season scoring a team high 8 points. Alicia Mumby scored 6 and did great on the boards. Anna Clover chipped in 4 points. Great defense was played by Katie Glasgow and Alaina Leary. Lakers play on Monday at Allendale.

BOOK FAIR: The Media Center is hosting the spring Book Fair March 7-14. Stop in anytime during school hours, as well as conference afternoon (Fri. Mar 10) and evenings (Thur. Mar 9 and Mon. Mar 13) to browse the newest collection of great books. You can also preview and purchase items on our online fair beginning Feb. 27 at www.scholastic.com/fair. If you are interested in donating a book to the school, there is an online wish list that is available to review and shop. Purchases for the wish list books will be shipped directly to the school. We are so proud and pleased with the "love of reading" our students exhibit. Please support and encourage this love by stopping into the book fair. Thank you!

FALL IN LOVE WITH SCIENCE: All Middle School Girls are invited to a fun-filled day of Science activities at Hope College on February 25th. College students from the fields of Nursing, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Computer Science, and Engineering will be providing MS girls a day of fun activities. SHINDIG: Save-the-Date for this year’s SHINDIG that will be held April 29th.

BUS DRIVERS NEEDED: How would you like to get paid to drive your kids to school? How about becoming a bus driver for Spring Lake Public School? There are currently open routes available. Paid training to obtain a CDL license. Work on school days; be home to enjoy your kids on non-student days! HOMEWORK HELP: If your child is struggling in class, the MS Homework Help program may help. Students may not attend until a completed form is returned. For students who will be utilizing school transportation the start date will be delayed until the busing arrangements are finalized. Forms are available in the office and also on the Middle School website at http://www.springlakeschools.org/middle .

OLD EYEGLASSES: Do you have old, usable eyeglasses that you no longer need. The Spring Lake Lions Club has placed a collection box in the MS office. Help someone see better. Thank you to all who have already donated.

BOX TOPS for EDUCATION: Bring in your Box Tops and put them in the container in the MS Office.
